No ICs are used in the audio path, only transistors and passive circuitry to best preserve the tonality and dynamics of your guitar.
Proxy is an incredibly authentic rendition of a classic British transistor amplifier from the '60s, often used by bands such as The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. Imagine a characterful, amp-like, and versatile cousin of a Tone Bender and you have the sound of Proxy. The internal 9V to 18V conversion gives the pedal exceptional dynamics; play gently for a detailed and responsive clean tone, dig in and get some wonderfully rude break-up. The Mid Boost feature allows you to recreate some classic Beatles tones, think 'Fixing a Hole'.
There are two new features for Proxy V2. The handling of higher gain settings has been greatly improved, this change allows for blistering lead tones that never fail to deliver perfect clarity and dynamics, all whilst maintaining the original tonality of V1. A new DIP switch has also been added that mimics the lower gain operation of the original amp when its 'Distortion' footswitch is turned off. This makes it easier to access clean and semi-clean tones when using higher output pickups.
The Presence control allows you to lower the brightness of the pedal to suit your set-up. An internal DIP switch, that modifies the Presence control, toggles between cutting only the high frequencies in the 'MARSHALL' position, or the high and upper mid frequencies in the 'FENDER' position. It's best to experiment with these controls to tailor the pedal to your amp, but here are some suggested settings that should work well:
Fender BF/SF: DIP Switch [FENDER]
JTM45: DIP Switch [MARSHALL]
Plexi: DIP Switch [FENDER]
Vox: DIP Switch [MARSHALL]
Proxy can also be used DI or into the Effects Loop Return, just set the Presence control fully clockwise for a neutral frequency response.
The white dots (position markers) on the enclosure indicate the correct setting to achieve a neutral or flat EQ.
